IELTS Practice: Education

Hello, my dear student!

Congratulations! You have finished the lessons of Module 1. Now it is time to use everything together, as in the real exam.

This lesson has no new grammar. Each part is one section of the IELTS test about education: two Listening sections, two Reading passages, Writing Task 1 and Task 2, and Speaking Part 1. Use the methods you learned: predict the answer, watch the word limit, find and compare for TRUE / FALSE / NOT GIVEN, analyse the essay question, and develop your speaking answers.

Work as if it were the real test: read the instructions carefully and check every answer once. Each part has a time limit and the clock does not stop; you get one try for each question. At the end you see an estimated band for each skill: a rough guide from a few questions, not an official score.

Before you start

A quick reminder of the method for each section.

Listening: what do you do before the audio starts?
Read the instructions, underline the word limit and predict each answer (a number? a name?).
Reading: FALSE or NOT GIVEN?
FALSE if the text says the opposite; NOT GIVEN if the text says nothing about it.
Writing Task 1: which tense for a change up to now?
Present perfect: has risen, has doubled. A finished year: past simple (rose in 2018).
Writing Task 2: what three things do you find in the question?
The topic, the focus and the task.
Speaking Part 1: how long is a good answer?
Two or three sentences: answer, reason, example.

Now it’s your turn!

8 short parts, each a little harder than the one before. Take your time: mistakes are how we learn.
